The month of May has always been pretty good for post-spawn bass. This May was no exception. We've had some good weather and some good numbers, as well. The water temp. has risen to 82deg, which means the thermocline is officially here. Currently about 12ft.
With that, the schooling bass, over 20-25ft of water have mostly been caught with a jerkbait plus-1, or a new lure I'm using... the Megabass Karashi. (Shhhh! Secret!) These Karashi is a BFS tiny subsurface jerkbait. It mimics our smaller shad quite well. Nobody throws this, so the bass eat it! Again, don't tell ANYONE this secret. Let's keep it tween us, huh?
For the areas less than 12ft, the square-bill is money. Finding good sizes in 6-8ft in the timber near the back boat lanes. Fun!
Here comes the heat and humidity. But one cool thing is that I'll be upgrading my boat carpet in June with a front deck pad, as well! Nice!
Come Attack the Nac!
